Hello Tea Enthusiasts,
Sen no Rikyu, who established the modern tradition of Chanoyu (also known as Chado, the Way of Tea), said, “Tea is a simple act of boiling water, making tea and drinking it”.
Tea is about the communication between the host and the guests in openness and serenity. Tea is not about how beautifully one can perform the procedures or how many procedures one can perform.
Breathing technique, physical control, and the coordination of breathing and movements during the Tea procedures will be central aspects of my teaching.
Chado involves intensive sitting on your knees for a length of time. If you are willing to do that, you will have a good start.
