茶事 CHAJI (Private Tea Function)
Training tea students to be able to conduct Chaji is one of my main purposes of teaching. Chaji comprehends all aspects of Chanoyu. It lasts about 4 hours, including serving meals, charcoal procedures, thick tea session and thin tea session. The thick tea session is the central focus of Chaji, and everything else is an effort toward offering the best thick tea you can make for the guests. In the Chaji exercise, we practice different roles, the host, the assistant to the host, the guests, and the kitchen crew.
灰形 HAIGATA (Ash-form making for the tea brazier)
七事式 SHICHIJISHIKI(Tea training group exercises conducted by five/or more participants)
着付け Kitsuke (Kimono dressing)
Wearing Kimono is one of the essential elements in the tearoom. Traditionally, tea students who do not know how to wear Kimono learn Kimono dressing from their teacher or their senior fellow students.
